Meagan O’Donnell: Breaking boundaries, one step at a time

On May 31, 2014, Meagan ODonnell’s life changed forever. She was injured in a  car accident, that crushed her lower legs. Doctors and medical professionals told her that she would never walk again. She was told time and time again that she would spend the rest of her life in bed, and that the pain would keep her down.
Determined to prove her doctors wrong, Meagan began setting goals for herself on her own time, walking a little further and taking steps toward overcoming her challenges. And as a passionate baseball fan, Meagan found inspiration in Marcus Stroman’s tagline, Height Doesn’t Measure Heart.
Meagan declared that she wanted to challenge herself to walk on to the field on Opening Day to meet her inspiration in real life. And of course, Marcus and the HDMH team were happy to oblige—as Meagan’s tweets began uplifting others in our community. And on April 7, the day finally came. Meagan and her family drove many hours to Wrigley Field, and Meagan was greeted by Marcus on the field. They chatted, laughed, and Meagan succeeded in her goal of walking on to the field. It was a beautiful moment that we were all overjoyed to see come to life.
I just think HDMH Apparel and Marcus Stroman should know how much motivation they give me on hard days, days I'm tired and sore and just don't wanna, but will anyway to keep proving the doubters wrong. I'm forever in your corner. Thank you for everything,” Meagan tweeted, after her experience.
Stories like Meagan’s are the cornerstone of HDMH’s values. Never let anyone else measure your own ability. We want to thank Meagan, as she has been an incredible source of motivation and inspiration for all who know her story. Members of our community have even reached out, saying they've been able to see themselves in Meagan, finding a renewed sense of hope and encouragement as a result.
Thank you for all you’ve done, Meagan. We’ll be here every step of the way as you continue to break down barriers.
