A loyal supporter of HDMH, Antoinette has been in our life from the beginning. We have known her journey for some time now and we have a message for her:
“Antoinette, while you may not hear it from me, I find you to be one of the most courageous women I know and your story is a true inspiration to me. You are the reason I will never give up on my goal to continue inspiring those who need to be reminded to defeat adversity everyday!” – Marcus Stroman
This was not an easy story for Antoinette to tell, but we are happy she shared it with the world. Someone, somewhere, needs to hear it, because someone somewhere is fighting this very same battle.
“My life hasn’t always been easy. At times, God gives me more than I can handle, but each time I am thankful to be here and see another day.”
October 12, 2017 would change Antoinette’s life forever. After a battle with mental illness and addiction, her beautiful daughter Jessica Kayla lost her life. As you can imagine, Jessica was her everything and her world would be forever changed.
“No one truly knows what it is like to lose a daughter and the pain I have been in. I miss her everyday and life was not the same. It was very hard to get up each day and smile, but my mom got me through those times. I wouldn’t be anywhere without her love.”
This tragedy left Antoinette in a dark place, but with the love and support of her mother, Antoinette was able to find reasons to smile everyday. Life for her was getting better. In March of 2019, Life had more adversity to deal Antoinette.
“In March of 2019, Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian and cervical cancer. My life fell apart.”
It was time for Antoinette to support her strong beautiful mother. She would be by her mother’s side every step of her mother’s battle. Unfortunately, the cancer was so far along that doctors did not think she would be able to overcome it.
“Mom did chemo and radiation but she had lesions in her brain and she would only have a few weeks. Mom fought her hardest battle and watching her go from a healthy beautiful woman to suffering was too much. The pain was unbearable, she was my rock.”
On June 9, 2019 Antoinette’s mother lost her battle with cancer. The past few years have been some of the most difficult times Antoinette has ever had to endure. Through it all she refuses to allow these tragedies to determine how she would live the rest of her life.
“They say god gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. My heart aches everyday, but I refuse to stop living and somehow find the strength to keep fighting each day.”
We feel so fortunate to have Antoinette in our life. She is loyal, devoted and resilient. Her ability to overcome adversity is so inspiring to us here at HDMH. Antoinette is a constant reminder that everyone is going through his or her own struggles. She is a reminder that we are all fighting a secret battle and need to be kind to one another.
“I want Marcus to know that through some of these times he brought a smile to my face. He is a prime example that if you put your mind to things it can be accomplished. Thank you and your beautiful family for always making me feel appreciated.”
NO . . . THANK YOU ANTOINETTE. Thank you for being strong. Thank you for being powerful. Thank you for being resilient. Thank you for being loyal. Thank you for being a fighter. Thank you for never giving up. Thank you for sharing your story.
YOU inspire the world to KEEP GOING!
